Holy Dormition Church

The history of the founding of St Mary’s Holy Dormition Church is not only a history of time and place, but also the people and descendants of those people who still today worship, work, and live the same as their ancestors who came here from Europe in the last part of the 19th century.  Most of the faithful immigrated to this country from the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Russia during the great age of immigration from 1880 to 1917.  Many of them found themselves in Pennsylvania in the coal mines...
