In 1918, Archbishop Alexander Nemolovsky, of the Russian Orthodox Archdiocese of North America and the Aleutian Islands, authorized a group of Carpatho-Rusyn immigrants from Hungary to establish a new parish, named Ss. Peter and Paul’s, in Bayonne, New Jersey. This group organized the Carpatho-Russian American Citizens Club in 1919, which was instrumental in organizing the new parish.
